Gender Equality & Women Empowerment

The Philippines has always been hailed as one of the countries embracing gender equality. The Philippines is ranked 17th among 156 countries in the Global Gender Gap Report 2021 of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and 2nd in APAC. The International Labor Organization detailed that the Philippines is the 5th in having the highest share of managers who are female. However, there are still a lot of disparities in terms of the industry, or type of job that women can get. This initiative aims to address these disparities by creating a workplace where women are given equal opportunities.

No bias was given on gender once an application comes in. All applications were fairly considered. Top considerations for hiring were skills, experience and behavior. Due to these measures, there is now a significant number of women in supervisory and management positions in the organization (please see graphic under outputs and key results).

This entry truly exemplifies gender equality in its truest sense – of ensuring full participation in leadership and decision-making. The RHomes team now has 12 Female Managers and 24 Supervisors vs 4 Male
Managers and 18 Supervisors and this has been sustained even in the past years.
The real estate industry given is known to be a male-dominated industry due to the fact that there are really more male engineers, construction workers, etc. The fact that Robinsons Homes has more women in leadership positions making important decisions is a key differentiator.

Gender Equality & Women Empowerment

According to Bossoutrot Sylvie, Country Manager of World Bank Armenia, there are many benefits to gender equality in the workplace ranging from offering different perspectives, enhanced collaboration, improved staff retention, a better image presented to customers, improved recruitment and reputation, among others. According to a McKinsey study released last September 2021, more so now with the pandemic, women leaders have been stepping up to support employee well-being and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, further highlighting their contribution to the workplace.
