Robinsons Ilocos Turns Over School Materials to Select Students of the City

June 12, 2024 – The World Day Against Child Labor is observed on June 12th every year. It is an initiative led by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and aims to raise awareness and promote efforts to eradicate child labor globally. The day serves as a reminder of the plight of child laborers worldwide and encourages action towards ensuring that all children can enjoy their right to education, play, and a safe childhood, free from exploitation.

Recognizing its role in the community to promote children’s rights to a safe childhood, Robinsons Ilocos partnered with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Ilocos Norte Field Office to launch REskwela, RLove’s school assistance program during the agency’s observance of World Day Against Child Labor which coincides with the Philippine Independence day on June 12.

Through the REskwela program, employee volunteers from Robinsons Ilocos, led by Mall Operations Manager Rayma Bumagat, donated materials that promote children’s creativity, safety and good hygiene. The materials which include art and writing materials, umbrellas and hygiene kit packs were distributed to 50 grade school children from the community. These kits are also expected to assist the children’s families in defraying costs involved in purchasing school materials for the forthcoming start of classes.

R Eskwela is RLove’s school assistance program that provides select schools & learning institution with support on the provision of supplies & learning tools that aid the education of students. It also offers support in school rehabilitation, and construction of learning facilities.
