Robinsons Malabon Donates Evacuation Tents to the LGU for Families Displaced by Typhoon Carina
During the onslaught of Typhoon Carina, torrential rains flooded the city of Malabon, with flood waters rising to a height of almost 3 meters in some areas. While many residents escaped the flooding before it reached dangerous levels, a number of families were rescued using dinghies to the nearest evacuation center. During the evacuation, over a hundred residents were forced out of their homes, bringing little to no belongings with them.
Responding to the disaster, Robinsons Malabon, through RLove, mobilized R Tulong, to offer disaster response assistance to flood victims. Through R Tulong, mall employee volunteers, led by Mall Operations Manager Ralph Basinal, distributed modular tents to the local government of Malabon to be used as temporary shelters by 40 families displaced by the flood.
The RLove tents were donated in addition to basic necessities such as food and water, which were provided to the flood victims by the local government.
The donation is an initiative under RLove’s R Tulong program --RLove's emergency relief program that addresses the need for relief assistance to individuals and communities affected by calamities. RLove believes that it is in times of calamities that our help is most needed by the calamity-sticken victims; in order to address the need for provision of essential items such as water, food and shelter.
