Robinsons Offices Builds First LEED- Certified Office Project in Western Visayas

Last February 29, Robinsons Offices executives brandished their golden shovels to conduct the topping off ceremony of Cybergate Iloilo Tower 3, signifying the completion of the structural phase of the third office building within the Cybergate Iloilo Towers complex. Towering all of the complex’s office buildings, Cybergate Iloilo Tower 3 will have 12 floors of office space, along with designated levels for parking and retail establishments. Upon its completion, Cybergate Iloilo Tower 3 is poised to stand as a beacon of progress in the region for a very good reason – it is the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) office project in Western Visayas, a strong statement on RLC’s dedication to sustainability. 

Issued by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), one of the world’s most widely recognized 3rd-party green building certification institutes, LEED involves a rigorous process of assessment by professionals. Upon certification, projects are granted a rating which developers use to demonstrate the verified sustainability of their projects. The LEED rating system operates on a point-based mechanism, evaluating sustainable systems and design elements employed in building projects. To achieve satisfactory rating, developers must adhere to the components of the rating system which entails reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and safeguarding the health and environment of the project's surroundings.  

Achieving LEED certification “demonstrates its commitment to the highest level of sustainability, assuring investors, tenants, and other occupants that it aligns with stringent standards. The certification also showcases the project's reduced environmental footprint, bolstering its climate credentials and highlighting its affiliation with the green building industry through a recognized green business certification.”[1]
