RTulong Sends Relief to Affected Familities of the Fire Incident in Roxas City
Two senior citizens perished and 377 individuals were displaced in the wake of a huge residential fire that gutted homes made of light-weight materials on Rizal Street, Brgy VII, Roxas City, Capiz on February 27.
Initial reports suggest that the blaze originated from the kitchen of a residence owned by a senior citizen, who may have accidentally left cooking unattended. 156 homes were consumed by the fire, affecting a total of 96 families or 377 individuals, including children and elderly. The family of one RLC employee was also reported to have been displaced by the fire.
With little personal belongings to nothing, the fire victims sought refuge at a nearby evacuation center in Rufina Andrada Santos Memorial School. The victims received immediate relief support from local government, with additional pledges for financial assistance from city government and the Department of Social Welfare to help families cope with the aftermath of the fire.
Extending support to the displaced families and individuals from Brgy VII, Roxas City, Robinsons Roxas mobilized RTulong Relief Operations to assist in the provision of relief goods and materials for the refugees. Gathering in the evacuation site, employee volunteers donated family relief packs to more than 100 families. The relief packs contained grocery items such as canned goods, noodles, rice, coffee and biscuits.
